One Request from Katie Stack
Please don’t make them scary!
Dear Athletes,
When Adam Ming told Katie Stack the theme for this month’s Art Gym, she responded with one request.
The Request: Please don’t make make them scary.
Adam here, the thing is I never really saw drawing bugs as scary, I saw them as:
Varied
Funny
Shapely
Delicate
Colourful
Beautiful
Fascinating
But not scary! Here are some bugs I drew for the recently published “First book of bugs”, written by Simon Mole and published by Walker Books.
I did remove some of the of the um, less aesthetic bugs from the roaster.
One thing I do enjoy about drawing bugs is the opportunity to play with texture. From tiny furs to transparent wings, and colourful shells, there’s just so much you can play with in terms of texture when drawing these mini beasts.
And I’m looking forward to creating these lovely textures with you. (And so much more)

I’ve you’re already enrolled to ArtGym, remember to RSVP here.
The next Art Gym is on Wednesday, September 24th
11:30 am ET | 4:30 pm GMT | 11:30 pm MYT
We hope to see you there;
Adam & Katie for Art Gym
